MacArthur Was Right

I’m becoming quite an admirer of Professor Ilya Somin.  Today, in commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Falkland Islands War, he writes quite convincingly that this relatively small conflict demonstrates that, in politics, there is nothing quite like a decisive victory.  And, he also writes, quite convincingly, that Argentina benefited from having lost so decisively, too – because its fascist military junta lost popular support after having its ass thoroughly waxed by the UK, resulting in democratic reforms and improving economic conditions.
