Carly Fiornia, formerly the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, seems to think that Tina Fey’s portrayal of Sarah Palin on SNL was “sexist” because it was superficial and “dismissive of the substance” that Gov. Palin actually brings to the table.
Well, that’s the point, Carly. It’s comedy. If Gov. Palin is elected Vice-President, she is going to be the butt of jokes on late-night television for four years. That’s part of the Vice-President’s job – be an attack dog on the campaign trail and be a punching bag in the Administration, so that the President can seem to be above reproach. If you’re going to be in politics, you have to be able to take being lampooned in stride as gracefully as you have to take being criticized. And according to the Gray Lady, Palin did think it was funny. I tend to agree.
