- Barack Obama not only says he's against marijuana decriminalization, he dismisses the idea as unserious and unworthy of discussion. He is wrong and worse, his tone likely set the idea back years. Hope and change, people. Hope and change.
- Congressional Republican "budget proposal" suggests tax cuts to solve everything and contains no numbers. Numbers as in how much money they would spend on anything, which is kind of the point of having a budget. Remember when Republicans used to be the party you trusted with the economy? (Nope, me neither.)
- White House plans to bail out Chrysler and GM. Again. Add another $17.4 billion to the deficit to keep the dinosaurs alive. Because the Bush Administration's bridge loan has worked so well.
- The two largest recipients of TARP money, by which those troubled banks were supposed to purge themselves of distresses real estate assets, are using the money to buy the troubled assets of other institutions instead -- doubling down on the very strategy that got them in trouble in the first place. Treasury Secretary Geithner is clueless as to how to stop them from doing so.
