I'm a supporter of extending marriage rights to all people, including those who would marry someone of the same gender. I'm also a fan of Jon Stewart, whose Daily Show still makes me laugh out loud after more than ten years on the air. And I'm impressed that Stewart will take all comers for the interview segment of his show, tackling real issues. So I was interested in seeing him interview Mike Huckabee while the once and maybe future Presidential candidate was out plugging his book, especially when a significant topic of discussion was same-sex marriage:

I don't know. Yes, Stewart had a higher wordcount than usual. You could even interpret his interview as a bit 'soap-boxy'. But, overall, he presented excellent premises in a noncombatant style. Huckabee kept falling back on statistics showing popular favor for SSM ban. His arguments for procreation, semantics, and raising the next generation were batted down nicely.
My hope is that Huckabee is reconsidering his arguments as a result. He's smart enough to know which are the weakest.
Maybe Huckabee will have leverage to get Stuart to come on his show now and they can continue the conversation.
