Once again, Italy will be without star defenseman Allesandro Nesta for Friday's quarterfinal match against Ukraine. Nesta, who plays professionally for AC Milan, is considered by many of the experts to be one of the best players in the world. He has been hampered by a groin injury for the entire World Cup tournament. ("Do you know what you can do about a groin injury? Nothing!")
Granted, Italy has progressed this far without him, but they'd be singificantly better off with him. But every game is difficult now. Hopefully, the Azzurri (so named for the blue Mediterranean Sea surrounding their country) will be able to survive the challenge from Ukraine and progress to challenge the winner of Germany-Argentina. Avanti!
