No Sharks In Sight

Tonight's episode of Battlestar Galactica was one of the best yet. This is one of the best-written shows I've ever seen on TV and tonight's was particularly thought-provoking. The dualism and use of mirroring in the plot arc was unexpected, powerful, and creative. The show's use of the peculiar aspects of its science-fiction setting as an aid to its story-telling (rather than its focus) and its exploration of powerful and ambiguous moral issues (including religion), is truly impressive.

At the end of the show, I was left with a singularly odd feeling -- of hope that love can truly triumph over hate, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. Of course, I'm sure that we'll get plenty more chances to see that love can also be a very dangerous thing, too, which only makes the show that much more fun. I admit that I also liked this particular episode because we got to see some of the Cylon Centurions in action, and they are incredibly cool-looking. But the show isn't about watching the Centurions' eyes go woob-woob-woob back and forth all the time; it's really about the people and this show in particular was about their ethical dilemmas -- and there were no good answers to any of their questions.

The two-part finale begins next week and I can't wait. This is the best show on TV.

That's a pretty deep emotional mining of something on the SciFi network. You and Salsola both belong on Geekback Mountain.

I agree that was a great episode. I especially liked the way the writers are developing the cylons, that will make them a lot more interesting then simply generic bad guys. It will also add more mystery.

I also cannot wait for the finale.

I sure seems like there arn't very many good shows on TV these days. Even HBO does not have anything good on.

This, and The Shield, are the only shows I would really miss.

Transplanted has already purchased some essential items for his trip to Geekback Mountain. I just hope he brings me back some trout. I really like trout.
