The GOP has used dog whistle racism to buy votes, God knows, but the Libertarians, far from being a bunch of ignorant rednecks have supported gay rights and genuine color-blindness. These people are allies of liberals in many areas and this kind of broad-brush cheap shot is politically stupid and ungrateful as well as wrong.Michael Reynoldshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05217493579132625169noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13589532.post-28474477305053789502009-04-18T00:14:00.000-07:002009-04-18T00:14:00.000-07:00I said something similar -- though less eloquent -...I said something similar -- though less eloquent -- in comments at Donklephant.

Garofolo is a douche. Glad to see another member of the club!

Having not attended any tea parties myself, I appreciate your insights and observations (Readers, check out LCR's post on that, he has some good photos) there. I'm pleased to see Ron Paul got some good press because he's been doing some good work lately, although I've some problems with him too.Burt Likkohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16060980744675990412noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13589532.post-34422070434597018112009-04-17T17:21:00.000-07:002009-04-17T17:21:00.000-07:00Great post, I'll respond to a few things here.
Yo...Great post, I'll respond to a few things here.
You said - "It did indeed take the crowd several beats before they understood what they were being told -- and then they booed the speaker off the platform."
This indeed does show a certain partisan side to this particular event, I wish that conservatives had the philosophical clarity and honesty to have said 'no' to the Bush Bailouts and socialism under Republican leadership. I sure as hell did, I am a registered libertarian with Republican support in some cases.Certainly not in the case of supporting Bush on socialism, only to be bettered at that game by the Obamanation. This does not however mean to say that the tea parties were attended by brain-drained Bushie drones. The tea party that I attended in Oceanside CA was certainly not 'Republican', I saw nearly as many anti-Schwarzenegger signs as anti Obama signs. There was a lot of support in the air for a lone Republican though - Dr. Ron Paul, and I would hardly say that he fits the mold.Left Coast Rebelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09292257205859285528noreply@blogger.com
