If
Steve Jobs dies any time soon, will the board of directors at Apple prop him up and carry his corpse around like
Weekend at Bernie's? At this point, I think they'd have to, in order to
preserve shareholder value. This is the direct result of
not-good leadership by Jobs. Seems to me that if Jobs were doing a good job as a leader, Apple would be in a strong enough position to continue as a viable company in his absence. No one, not even the guy at the top, should be indispensible -- and it's the responsibility of the guy at the top to see to it that this is a reality.
