But Houston will not suffer the same fate as New Orleans did during Katrina. There is no lake above Houston kept in place only by earthen levees. It's also a much bigger city, more spread-out than relatively compact New Orleans. But Galveston really has to worry -- Galveston is built on a barrier island and will take the full brunt of the storm surge and a direct hit by the storm just as it comes off the water. Landfall is predicted for about 1:00 a.m. Friday morning, local time. Good luck, Texans.
Speaking of whom, the Houston Texans host a home game against Baltimore Sunday. Shouldn't the game be, you know, moved elsewhere because it's going to happen two days after a Category 4 hurricane goes through the damn city?
